“Come to the Friuli Stadium. We need you”

Antonio Di Natale: “The fans are the true Udinese treasure”

(“The”?) Bianconero captain: “The affection our Friulian fans show us every day in Arta makes us understand how important it is play in a team that fully identifies with a region. I will never forget about (without “about”?) the Champions League and Uefa Cup nights: the stadium crowded with people; our fans ready to support us unconditionally, they really were the twelfth player, they really are the true Udinese treasure. The passion for football these people have makes their eyes sparkle, that’s why I am asking all the people whose heart burns (??) for Udinese to come to the stadium and subscribe to a new season card to support their idols. Come, we need you to make Friuli fly high!”

“Never had problems against big teams”

Antonio Floro Flores: “The coach told me he wants me to do my best”

The first three match-days of the new Serie A calendar are going to be tough for Udinese: Genoa, Inter and Juventus . Floro Flores doesn’t seem to worry: “Sooner or later you have to face them all. We have never had particular problems against big teams. The teams that have sometimes troubled us are the so called (“so-called”?) small teams” . Yesterday second friendly (“a second friendly match”?) and second set of five goals: “Any (??) sector of the team performed extremely well: defence, attack, midfield, everyone. I hit the pitch to become a regular. If Corradi stayed (“had Corradi stayed”?), I would be happy: he’s a good guy. If Denis arrived, then, it wouldn’t be a problem either”. Have you had the chance to talk to Coach Guidolin yet? “Yes, and when we talked it was a true pleasure. He told me he wants me to do my best, I have to find continuity of results (??): that’s something I have not always kept up with because of the injuries I had. I am going to work hard to cope with his expectations”. The group seems to be the perfect combination between the old and the new school: “Cuadrado and Battocchio are two very skilled youngsters. The older players are giving them a lot of good advice”. The players that played yesterday, are having a full afternoon off today: “The work load is completely different from last year’s. Every fitness coach has his own methods and I have to say the staff are always extremely well disposed towards us, we are already building a great relationship with Bordon”. An appeal for the fans: “We know what you want us to do, and we won’t let you down”.

Udinese, what else?

Good sensations, I will be soon at my top form”

Andrea Coda: “Competition within a team is important, too. It’s stimulating to compete with high level (“high-level”?) players”

Yesterday, Andrea Coda finally hit the pitch again after that bad injury (“that”?) occurred against Chievo Verona. Andrea, do you feel better now?
“I have some really good sensations (???), the knee is much better although the leg is not at 100% yet. I’ll be ready before the end of the season , though”. Tell us something about coach Guidolin. “His impact on the team was wonderful. He’s a skilled and experienced coach, his results speak for themselves: Vicenza, Udine, Bologna, Palermo…wherever he has coached, he’s done an excellent job. With his help, we want to start a winning era, we are really looking forward to starting the season”. Against Rappresentativa Friuli Venezia Giulia you were right at the centre of the back three, has something changed for you? “Not at all, playing with the back three or the back four is not really a big problem for me. Also Malisani and Marino used to play with the back three. Since I arrived in Udine, there’s been a lot of competition within the team and I am not worry (“worried”?) nor scared about it: having to compete with high level players is stimulating.” Are there some old friends of yours here? “Two friends: my roommate Pinzi and Candreva”. Did you watch the World Cup? “Not every single match, but I have to admit that Spain really deserved winning the Cup. Their football was just good”. Who do you think will be the revelation player of the season? “I am going to tell you the same name I chose last year: Jaime Romero”.

Post-match statements

Francesco Guidolin: “The two groups both did an excellent job. I am satisfied with their performance”

Coach Francesco Guidolin at the end of the friendly against Rappresentativa Friuli Venezia Giulia: “The two groups both did an excellent job. I am satisfied of (“with”?) their performance especially if we consider that he (“the”) opponents were of the highest quality”.
Many young players had the chance to show what they can do: “Cuadrado played 45 minutes of the highest level and he has showed me he is a very versatile player. I was also greatly impressed by Benatia and Batocchio. The Argentinian is a true talent, despite being so young. Candreva showed once again he has a wide vision of the game and an uncommon foot sensitivity. Now we are going to increase the difficulty of the training so that we can skim and choose a smaller group”. Juan Cuadrado is the biggest surprise being used as a right lateral: “I feel at ease in this position because I can also attack. In Colombia I have already scored some free kicks goals and I am looking forward to scoring in (“the”?) Serie A. Last season was useful to get used to Italian football and this year I want to convince the coach I am fundamental for the group”.

ARTA TERME – There were more than 300 fans at (“the”?) Stadio Comunale “Paolo Zuliani” in Arta Terme to support Udinese.
Udinese –white jersey and black shorts – went for an offensive and clever 3-4-3. After only 13 minutes, Corradi hits the post on Cuadrado’s assist and a minute after, Badu’s cannonball shot from the midfield doesn’t reach the net. In the 20th minute, Domizzi on a free kick troubles Montagnese.
Vydra from the corner once again brushes against the goal but Montagnese saves. Vriz’s men get closer and closer to our keeper Zlamail who – in the 23rd minute- saves Pavan’s low shot. In the 26th minute, Casimirri’s free kick is deflected by the barrier and the ball falls right into our net. Udinese promptly attacks and answers back and in the 34th minute they even the result as Corradi feeds Belek right in the middle of the goal area. After few minutes, Cuadrado scores on a free kick and Udinese takes the lead. In the second half, Guidolin changes the whole line-up. In the 8th minute, Pinzi misses the chance to score Udinese’s third goal. Between the 15th and the 16th minute, Floro and Pinzi seriously trouble Zanier, but it is Romero (23’), perfectly fed by Battocchio, to find the way to score. In the 27th, Floro is the assist man for Abdì: poker for Udinese. Floro Flores then seeks for another one: he first hits the post but he then shoots again on the rebound and scores. The match ends 5-1.
