Udinese...
Pozzo: “Nothing’s impossible”
Udinese’s “paron” (translation in English of “paron”?), Gianpaolo Pozzo, was asked today in exclusive (???) by Rai Sport, about the triumphal (“triumphant”?) ride of his Udinese, the secrets of the success of the Club (“of thr Club’s success”?) and its future projects. “Our secret lies in hard work. We’ve got a skilled staff, guided by a great coach. Ours is a solid Club, where everyone is going in the same direction".What do you feel when you hear the name of Udinese beside (“next to”?) Barcelona’s?“It is an immense pleasure, but they are two very different realities. Barcelona are a great Club and a magnificent enterprise. The comparison was made about the game style of Guidolin's boys, which is similar to Guardiola's men. Both the teams entertain the public (“both teams entertain the public”), offering a beautiful football (??) and scoring a lot”.Is Alexis Sanchez the new Lionel Messi?“I think he’s the Messi of ours (“I think he’s our Messi”?). The Argentinian is a well-known player, whereas the Chilean is still growing, even though he was called "Maravilla” when he was only 16. He’s growing and I’m sure he’s not going to his head (???).
He likes playing football and just loves winning”.There are many offers for him…“I don’t want to talk about transfer market. I dislike Udinese being displayed as a commercial team. We’re currently trying to reach some important goals, but the road is long, and the competition is experienced. I’d like to cut a big milestone and if we do so, well, everything would change. We don’t need to be selling players and we're not looking for buyers either. We want to maintain this staff in case we qualify for Champions League (“the Champions’ League”?). We’ll try and convince everyone our project's worthy (“that our project’s worthy”?), Sanchez in primis".In the meantime, Totò Di Natale is ranking first (“is ranked first”?) in the leading goalscorers table, with 23 goals.“He’s a super-champion, a boy who rose through the ranks and is getting many satisfactions (“and is having a lot of satisfaction”?) here in Friuli. Perhaps he wouldn’t have gotten as much in a greater Club, his choice of staying is paying off”.Is coach Guidolin the author (???) of the miracle?“To be sincere, I didn’t expect all of this so early. I knew he was a skilled coach, just as Zaccheroni and Spalletti (“just like”?), I had known it (“I had known this after”?) after his first season in Udine, but I couldn’t imagine he would have put up such a granitic (?????) group in so little time”.When is the new stadium due?“It is a fundamental point in order to make a jump in quality (“to make a qualitative jump”?). We need the 12th man in pitch (“on the pitch”?), we want to build a structure that invites the spectator to come see the matches. We’re doing our best to get it realized (“built”?) as soon as possible”.Where would Udinese be now if they wouldn’t have lost the first four matches?“If we think about it, the beginning of the championship was not so bad, as the team was expressing a good game back then too.
Defeats have trained the players and, one match after the other, the group has found the right pace and now is breaking one record after the other. Our path started there, from four defeats in a row and now, if we’re winning all the matches we miss (???), nothing’s impossible. At least who’s behind us can’t reach us anymore!”

Udinese and society???
13-03-2011
Pozzo: “Udinese always keep their undertakings”
With regard (“regards”?) to the assertions of a few managers of Snaidero Pallacanestro Amatori Udine, (“which”?) appeared recently in the local newspapers, Udinese’s reference (“main”? or “principle”?) shareholder Gianpaolo Pozzo wanted to express his opinion on the whole affair: “I read it (“I read in the newspapers”?) in the newspapers that Snaidero Basket (“Basketball”?) claim to be in financial straits because Udinese is allegedly unfulfilling towards the “orange” society (“society”?) for the sum of € 500.000. It is absolutely false. Udinese F.C., in fact, have always diligently respected all the undertakings for the last two years, that is when the “orange” President Edy (“Edi”?) Snaidero said he wanted to give up and the Mayor Mr. Honsell involved me in this new adventure for the sake of the Friulian sporting (“Friulian sports”?) movement. According to the first agreement, Udinese should have covered 20% of the losses, and so did we (“and so we did”?)for every recapitalization done so far.
I compliment with (“I compliment”?) our city’s basket (“basketball”?) team for the sport results they obtained, but I cannot do the same for their management results. I got the impression the Club is under-structured, as if it needs a stronger management and a more constant presence. I have great respect both for the President, Edy (“Edi”?) Snaidero and for the VP Massimo Blasoni, who’s young and ardent. That is why I invite him to commit more in the basket (“basketball”) cause. The recent polemics are useless, counter-productive and, most of all, do not make Snaidero Basket (“Basketball”) any good. I wish the incident to stop here and everyone to roll up their sleeves (“in order…”) to carry forward this project, because I believe it deserves to continue existing. If, on the other hand, you want to break the toy, that is the right way to do so. I don’t back out, but I’m not an operative associate, so I cannot get the credits for the excellent sport results, as well as the faults for the management failure.

Guidolin: “Watch out: Cagliari never stop”
During the final preparatory training session, Maurizio Domizzi worked on his own, but the coach doesn't seem to be worried about the defender's physical conditions: “The boy (???) is coming with us and is probably being at disposal for tomorrow’s delicate match. Di Natale worked on his own too, due to an annoying cold".
How is the rest of the team? “We’ll be able to tell only tomorrow (“We’ll only be able to tell tomorrow”?). We’ll know if we’re still in shape only on the pitch of “Sant’Elia”. Cagliari were able to give troubles (as in Northern Island?) to teams bigger than ours, and are in good shape at the moment. They’re a first-rate team, they're unstoppable, their weapons being intensity and dynamism. They’ve been getting a lot of points, thanks to Donadoni's guide (“guidance”?). I’m pretty sure we’re to face (“we’re going to face”?) a dispersive, intensive match concerning both physical and mental energies”.
The first leg match was a battle and, in the end, the teams split up the loot: “They gave us a hard time, conquering a well-deserved point. Since then, they've kept a high average. I want my boys to be ready tomorrow, they’re facing an insatiable team that have been doing well for the last three years”. ”.Cagliari are missing Biondini and Ariaudo, suspended by the judge. “I’m sure Donadoni will find the appropriate countermesures (“counter-measures”?). The absences will not be noticed if Naingollan, Conti and Lazzari are playing".
Cagliari, with four wins out of the last 5 home matches, are trying to reach a qualification for Europe: “We’ll have to go through many difficulties to win in Sardinia. We need to forget Palermo, it doesn’t matter anymore. In Serie A no match is taken for granted, last night was a proof of it (“proof of that”?). We’ve got the greatest consideration and respect of (“for”?) our opponents and we're taking the field trying to get the best result we can". A win brings another win, but it’s not a rule: “We've obtained (“we’re full of enthusiasm”?) enthusiasm thanks to all the positive results we've gotten. It helps you winning, but it happens the contrary as well (“but the opposite is true” or “but the opposite also happens”?): defeats give you the boost to start winning again".

Excellent Udinese, as usual....

Udinese to abandon synthetic pitch
Udinese “closes down” the external synthetic pitch of the Sports Centre “Dino Bruseschi”, 4 months after its opening. The decision has been made due to the total impracticability of the field in the event of the faintest (“lightest”?) rain, together with the high risk of injuries brought by this kind of structure on the footballers (“players”?), as they themselves have often highlighted.
Udinese, basing (“based”?) upon Figc's (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio) official standardization of the synthetic playing pitch of Novara Calcio and on the guarantees in terms of safety and performance of the so-called pitches of the latest generation, made the decision, last summer, to rapidly realize two structures, one in the open (“outdoors”?) , the other in the tensioned (??) structure of the Sports Centre “Dino Bruseschi”, in order to face the severe winter and guarantee the team the possibility to practice with all comforts also with harsh climate consitions (“conditions”?).
Four months later, however, facts are very different.
The synthetic pitch in the open (“the outdoor synthetic pitch”?) is totally impracticable in the event of rain or ice, which, in this Region, is evidently a constant presence during the wintery (???) months. Moreover, the pitch has provoked many complaints on the part of the players who, after training sessions on it, have shown several physical injuries, especially at the knees (“on the knees”?) and articulations.
Beyond the long-standing debate among Figc, Uefa and Fifa over the benefits or potential contraindications of synthetic pitches, Udinese's recent experience has proved how these so-called pitches of the last generation (a term which sounds more like an advertisement) were seriously risking to harm (??) the physical integrity of the footballers, as well as being, as previously said, totally impracticable in the open in the event of bad weather.
Thus, for all these reasons Udinese has decided to “close down” its synthetic pitch and to report it to the appropriate authorities, especially FIGC and LNP Serie A, and all the sister teams (“fellow teams”??), in order to share this experience, extremely negative, and to receive, if possible, adequate advices (“advice”?).

Udinese....
28-02-2011
“We don’t think about (“The”?) Champions League… we believe in it”
Francesco Guidolin: “The match lasted only one half. Sanchez was extraordinary”
Guidolin’s Udinese is unbelievable and is breaking all the (without “the”) records. Palermo’s 0-7 is the largest (“greatest”?) result ever in away matches, as well as the tenth useful consecutive result for Udinese (the series (?) was superior only in 1954-55), whereas Sanchez is the first player to score 4 goals in one single match. Yet, the most important fact is that today’s win brings Guidolin’s boys 1 point away from Lazio, defeated in Cagliari and still to (“at”?) 48 points: “I’m saying we have to take care of one opponent at a time – coach Guidolin explains during the press conference -. Today’s success was net (?) but, despite all the goals, it only brings three points. We’ll try and stay where we are as long as we can. (“The”?) Champions League? I don’t want to think about it, we don’t even talk about it, but we do believe in it. Yet, the first three teams remain unreachable to (“for”?) us”.
Did Udinese stop after the seventh goal? “We didn’t hit (??) more as we didn’t want to break any record. The match lasted only one half, we made a good start, with personality. That’s how we meant to play it, and we did it. We showed off our health, legs, quality and physical condition. I’m glad my boys have made me look good, but I had no revenge to take in Sicily”.
Alexis Sanchez will not easily forget his first poker ever: “He’s growing so quickly in the new role I created for him. I believe he will become one of the world’s best number 10 (“10s”?). He is decisive, fundamental, as all the important players are. When he’s between the lines he becomes unmarkable (??), generous and he scores. Today’s 7-0, though, is not all due to him, but to the whole team”.
Today’s result reminds that of 2004-05, when Udinese won in Palermo, back then coached by Guidolin, for 5-1: “Then Palermo were at their first year in Serie A and were running for a placing in Champions League, which was eventually taken by Spalletti’s Udinese. After 10 minutes we had already conceded three goals, I can still taste the bitterness of that match. Yet, at the end of the season we qualified for UEFA. I hope it’s a good sign”.
