Udinese...

"The squad's attitude hasn't changed"

Guidolin: "The glass is half full, but I want to pour more wine into it"
[ 19.02.2013 ]
Two days after the defeat at Marassi (“at the Marassi stadium”?), Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin doesn (“does not” or “doesn’t”?) not change his mind about the match that saw Udinese lose against Ballardini's Genoa by a narrow margin: "My idea on (“about”?) the squad's performance is still the same, I accept that in Italy the attitude is score-oriented, but I think my evaluation is balanced and true. The second half was hard-fought, the first one sufficient (“the first one being sufficient”?). We deserved to score at least one goal for the high number of attempts we made".
Is it an offensive anemy (???)?

"It is not. If Merkel, Benatia, Maicosuel or Badu had been luckier, now we wouldn't be speaking of any troubles “(trouble”?) at all. Di Natale? He saved us so many times. I am not worried, I think of the future with serenity"

How is Muriel?
"He is not as lively as he was in Lecce yet. He's still a new player to me, because I couldn't use him for the first four months of the season. I still have to understand him, his being away from the pitch surely influenced him".

Why did Maicosuel exhitate (???) before kicking against Genoa?
"He didn't find the perfect timing. He saw his way was crossed so he tried to make way to let the ball pass through".

What do you think of Diego Rodriguez after some training sessions?
"He is full of enthusiasm and he's willing to play. I don't know if he's ready tactically speaking, he hasn't been here long (“long enough”?), I can't have a precise idea yet. But he has to do his job well, because we are facing an emergency in the midfield".
Do you think Udinese play too defensively?

"I always try to transmit the same attitude, will to attack (“the will to attack”?), to take the lead, and it's the same thing I used to say in 2010 when my team won 7-0 in Palermo, 4-0 in Cagliari, 3-0 in Cesena or got 4-4 draws at San Siro. I inherited a squad that never won away (“never won in away matches”?), and in two years and a half I got it (“got it”????) to win a whole leg made of away games. I think I am able to give the right agonistic rage (!!!!) to my players, and I hope I still can get the best out of them before the end of the championship".

How do you like the ranking?

"I don't like to see Catania ahead (“ahead of us”?), but I can only compliment them. I admire them, but I want to pass them. I see the glass half full, but I want to pour more wine. I want to push the squad to get more".

What do you think of Napoli?

"Napoli are like wounded animals. We will be facing a great team, and we'll need and extraordinarily positive match to get a positive score".

Udinese....

"Fighting for Europe for the third consecutive year"
Guidolin: "I am happy with the performance of the squad and proud of the eight place" (“eighth place”?)
Udinese leave Milan's bitterness behind and stop the (“Torino’s positive streak of results”?) positive streak of results of Torino: "We faced a very good team, as we could see from the 15th minute of the second half onwards - said after the match Udinese football manager Francesco Guidolin (“Udinese’s football manager F.G. said after the match”?) -. We controlled the match for an hour, and if Maicosuel's sure hit had striken (“struck”?), everything would have been easier".

How did you like the refereeing work (just “refereeing”)?
"I never thought the referee's decisions could influence my squad's performance. I never cared about the name of the designated referees for my matches. I get angry on the bench, but I think in front of cameras (“the cameras”?) we must accept the result, whatever it is".
How was it like meeting Barreto?
"Vitor came to say hi before the match, that's all that matters to me. He deserves to be lucky and healthy to express his qualities. He was cured very well here, and now he's a protagonist of the Serie A thanks to our medical staff".
What do you think of your squad's performance?
"I am happy with the performance of my squad and proud of the eighth place. We passed Roma and we are fighting for a place in Europe for the third consecutive year. We are out of dangers (“out of danger”?) and the squad is growing (like plants?). We still have four points to achieve our first seasonal goal, then we'll have fun. Udinese can suffer against Torino because they gave troubles (“trouble”?) to stronger teams than Udinese".
Did you like Di Natale?
"Totò played well. I substituted him with Ranegie because Torino had invaded our half-pitch and we needed a heavy forward there. He was crucial also today, even if he didn't score".
Was the choice to leave Muriel on the bench due to some particular need?
"It was a technical choice, I wanted two offensive midfielders behind Totò. I like players who can operate (like a surgeon?) between the lines".
Angella left no-one missing Danilo in the middle of the defence.
"He was ready as well as Pereyra, Maicosuel, Allan and Campos Toro. We should take a look at the ID documents of these boys to understand what sort of patrimony we are dealing with" (stuff worthy of the Louvre?????).

Udinese...

Udinese and Torino: football philosophies in comparison

Analysis of this Sunday's match at the Friuli

Udinese-Torino means Giampiero Ventura-Francesco Guidolin, a chance to see two different tactical modules and football styles. Torino coach (“Torino’s coach”?) has given new life to the 4-2-4 scheme (??), with two midfielders, two wings forward (“two wing forwards”?) and two complimentary forwards ready to take advantage of the few long balls. Ventura's tactics, which can become a 4-3-3 scheme when needed, starts from a well-reasoned football, with action being built from the basis (“from the base”?), from the goalkeeper. One of his favourite players is Gillet, very good with his feet. Ventura's game does not fear pressure and can hurt on the flanks, where we find another benchmark of the 65-year-old coach: Alessio Cerci, whom he used to coach in Pisa and has finally been taken to Torino.

On the other side we find (“we have”?) Francesco Guidolin, a faithful user of the 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 scheme. His game is made of few touches and sudden plays forward, to get the best of the speed and athletic features of two quick forwards such as Di Natale and Muriel. Domizzi and Lazzari are asked to trigger them off (like a bomb?) with their good feet. The centre-backs and Pinzi are ready to fill the void created by the forwards' run. The goal scored to AC Milan (“scored against”?) is the proof. We don't know which tactical module is going to win this time, countermeasures (like in war?) have been studied and are ready to be put in practice. The last word is left to the pitch!

Napoli...

Mazzarri: The Catania (“Catania” or “The Catania Club”?) is the revelation of the season, we will face a great team

"Catania is the revelation of the Championship, we have to face it as if it was a big match." Walter Mazzarri holds high the threshold of attention and concentration. The  coach is already mentally prepared for tomorrow's match. But first a comment on the market by January (“in January”?...

Coach, pleased (“are you pleased”?) with the new purchases?
' Yes. It is not easy in January put dowels (???) into a team that is going strong. We wanted to improve the aspect of double roles to be competitive in Italy and Europe. We made choices aimed to (“at”?) balance both incoming and outgoing, and I think the club has done very well on the market "

In market commentary (??) the President De Laurentiis had important words for you ...

"I'm glad and I thank the President. Between us there is synergy, we work in the same direction with mutual harmony in order to improve both the team and the performances"

Meanwhile Catania doesn't evoke very happy memories  ...
"Catania beyond the past clashes, for me is the true revelation of the Championship. They play very well and in my opinion they have quality players, have  an “(they have an”?) important staff, come (“they come”?) from three consecutive victories, have enthusiasm and this can show  their condition. We have some problems in defence (“on defence”?) for the disqualification and will see which choices to do "

After the Nice performance on on Sunday will Dzemaili be present?

"I think so, because he has done well and I want to have regular players among which (“from which”?) to choose. I liked very much the response of Dzemaili in Parma and I think to confirm again him "
There will be a San Paolo of great occasion (??) ...
"I saw the reply (“reaction”?) of our audience, I count on the help of San Paolo (“the San Paolo stadium”?) for 95 minutes as it always happens. We must face Catania as a great team. It will be  an important match of high-level, we must have the approach as in a big match. (“as during a big match”?)"

Saturday night could be Napoli alongside Juve at the top...
"We don't look at the ranking, you know that I don't consider these arguments. My commitment is for the match on Saturday. We must think just orselves (“ourselves”?) and continue on our way "
What do you think about Rolando after the first training?
"Rolando does not play from bit ' (???) of time and will make a specific preparation. He's a complete Defender (“defender”?), can play on right in the middle and on the left. He's a jolly of defense (???) that will be very useful this season "

Rolando chose the Jersey number 6.
Finally the satisfaction of Mazzarri for the great season of Primavera:
"I congratulate the guys and all the technical staff, they are playing (??) a beautiful season and this is a source of pride for the club. There are also valid elements who can represent the future of Napoli. The youth sector is an important resource "

Udinese...

Pozzo: "Valeri unsuitable"
The words of Udinese chairman after AC Milan-Udinese

So said Gianpaolo Pozzo after the match which saw Udinese fall on the third extra-time minute for a penalty kick decided by referee Valeri: "We are unlucky, another referee had been initially designated for this match - said Udinese chairman with bitterness -. He is one of the two-three referees who are technically unsuitable for refereeing. I said so before: Veleri has not the right balance to referee in the Serie A. It's always a raffle with him, and in that raffle we are always the losers. I still recall the episodes with Parma, AC Milan and the first-leg match against Juventus. It was a disaster, he has no balance for fundamental decisions. He has given another gift to the opposite team, crucial for the outcome of the match (“which was crucial for the outcome…”?). If the referee committee excluded this kind of referees, the situation of the whole category would benefit, because our referees are the best of the world" (“in the world”?).

Udinese...

"Generous and combative performance"
Guidolin: "Four-man defence? We've tried that. It's a solution we have tried many times when training and in friendly matches".

This Sunday's night match between Udinese and AC Milan is a particular challenge. The return of Mario Balotelli has fired up the enthusiasm of AC Milan fans and adds to the concerns of our coach, Guidolin: "It is going to be a tough match indeed - said the coach in today's press conference -. AC Milan are in good shape and we should say "bravissimo" to Allegri because he's managed to give life to a squad with many new faces. He has found De Sciglio, he had El Shaarawy mature (like an apple?) and launched Niang. We face the fittest team of the season. We cannot make mistakes".
Will you be using any particular expedients (!!!)?

"We have tried four-man defence many times. It's a solution we have tried many times when training and in friendly matches"

What do you ask your squad (“What do you ask of your squad”?)?
"They must be generous and combactive (“combative”?) to try and give trouble to AC Milan. We must enhance the quality".

You can finally rely on our Moroccan defender, Benatia..
"He has been training the whole week with the group. He came back from South Africa in perfect shape, not as he did one year ago, when he needed a fortnight to recover completely. All the players are available this time".
The first away game after Turin's 4-0. How are you going to face it?
"We should take Turin's defeat to heart to prepare for this match. I repeat, AC Milan are the strongest team of the season, they are doing great".

What do you think of Balotelli's signing?
"He is a potential top player, he has good qualities. He's back to Italy, (“back in Italy”?) which is important to our football. I am not concerned only by him, but also by Pazzini. Their recent performances have given them a boost".
What do you think of the referee's change?
"I didn't even know about it. I respect all referees, I don't inquire about the person who is going to referee my matches. We are the makers of our own destiny".
