An interesting piece of information the other day in "Repubblica's" daily: I thought that they would talk perhaps of a Pink Floyd reunion, seeing that in the middle of the two news briefs there was Nick Mason's picture, the drummer of that great British band.
Instead? No, no news, just his picture. Go figure THAT one out!!!!

Udinese....
Di Natale's goals, the Gazzetta goes along with official figures
The newspaper
has updated its records of Di Natale's goals according to the Lega's official
figures. The goal to ("against"?) Genoa has been acknowledged.
[ 07.11.2014 ]
Starting from today, Totò Di Natale has scored 199 Serie A goals (",") also according to the Gazzetta dello Sport. In an article written by Francesco Velluzzi published today on ("in"?) the newspaper, the decision to update the record according to the Lega Calcio's official figures has been announced.
Thirteen months after the goal scored to ("against"?) Genoa, which was initially counted as ("an own-goal"?) own-goal scored by Calaiò, every body ("everybody"?) involved has acknowledged the Captain's performance.

Bread made out of "floor"? Hmmmm....
Yes, give that translator a
medal! Indeed interesting to see that bread can be made from “floor”, eh?

A European "Canadian" flag?
Hmm, I wonder if the journalists over at Italy's "Repubblica" newspaper failed elementary geography? We're informed that in Kiev there were European flags that were being waved at the Majdan square. So Canada's moved to the Ukraine, eh????

Udinese...
Guidolin:
"Another match full of hazards"
The analysis of the match by Udinese coach Francesco
Guidolin
[ 26.01.2014 ]
Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin
talked about a series of subjects during the press conference held after the
loss in Parma: "I have already experienced such a series of losses in
Parma. We are going through a tough time and this loss adds to the others. It's
been a match as full of hazards (“full
of hazards”?) as the one with Lazio. It was a well-balanced match. Parma put
more quality and experience. Our group is very young, we did quite good, but we
suffered from the Tim Cup efforts". What about Gabriel Silva's change
(“substitution”?)? "I hoped I could use him, but he tried to make
an effort in the warm-up and didn't make it". Is Udinese sterile?
(!!!!) "It is partly true, we needed Nico Lopez and Muriel's
vividness. Parma second-guessed our moves and lined up consequently. We were
not as determined as against (“as we were against”?) AC Milan. We should
improve our team solidity". Should you watch your back? "We
should adapt. There is no other way".
Were there any communication
problems on Parma's goal? "We can do better than that indeed".
Why did you choose that lineup? "Widmer earned to be confirmed.
Bubnjic is the natural substitute to Domizzi and I needed Nico Lopez's
vividness (!!!!)".

“Darkness on the Edge Of Time”?
Any Springsteen fans out there? Yes? I myself have seen him live five times (the first time in Toronto in July, 1985 during his epic “Born In The USA” tour). I think I know a lot of his great music, including his albums. Many will perhaps agree that one of his all-time best LPs is “Darkness on the Edge of Town”.
Well, not for Gino Castaldo of Italy’s “La Repubblica” newspaper as on January 27th, 2014 he mentioned Bruce’s “other” famous album, that is, “Darkness on the Edge Of Time”! Yes, hard to believe, but true…
Yes, give that translator a medal!
Now this is a REAL stumper: does the bar sell coke (as in the drink, or as in the drug), or even cockatoos? Or is it some kind of Roman-style “cocktail” that they sell you? Hmmm.....
Udinese...
Guidolin:
"Forget Lazio, focus on Tim Cup"
"There is so much at stake at San Siro. We know it
won't be easy, but we'll give it a try"
[ 21.01.2014 ]
Winning is the best cure to overcome
a crisis. Udinese coach Guidolin keeps that in mind as he prepares his squad
for the Tim Cup away game: "It's a knock-out game which could get us to
the semifinal - the coach said during today's press conference -. We really
care about this competition and we need to put the bitterness of the last loss
behind us if we want to succeed against AC Milan. There is so much at stake and
in order to win we need to put our best effort into it".
Were you bothered by the picture
published on newspapers and social networks?
"I wasn't, it was an harmless
(“a harmless”?) ingenuousness (???). I wasn't feeling very well yesterday due
to Sunday's loss. We can't make a fuss over a picture, even if sometimes it
would be better to pay attention to every detail". Over the years, the number of Italian players
in the squad has decreased progressively. Can it be the cause of the problems of
the team? "I don't think so. There
are plenty of well-experienced players such as Basta and Danilo, who can help
the youths (“kids”?) grow up". Is
there a problem of communication then?
"I don't think so, the players
do exactly what they are told. Maicosuel did very good (“very well”?) against
Lazio, but he was a bit tired in the end, and he kept going towards the left
side of the pitch. The Brazilian played a high-level first half". The team
responded better when you were playing 11 vs 11. Isn't it weird? "The team
does great in training sessions, my players are reactive, orderly and rigorous.
We can't think our fortune will turn by itself (??). We must work harder".
Isn't Basta doing slightly worse
than usual?
"No one can do 100% (??) for a
whole season. He is doing his best". How is Muriel doing?"He can't
play 90 minutes in a row yet, but he's young and I expect him to react well. He
comes from a serious injury, but this situation is not too heavy for such a
young player. I always demand my players high-quality performances. I prefer 60
well-played minutes than 90 minutes of low performance". Thanks to Seedorf AC Milan seems to have
found its enthusiasm again…
"I am happy for him. He was a
great player, a smart boy, but I'd love to say something about Allegri too: he
did a great job in Milan, he is a skilled coach and he is ready for greater
Clubs. I am sorry for his adventure to have ended so early, but I'm sure he'll
find another satisfying role soon. Seedorf benefits from his former career
indeed, he will bring a great matter of ideas and motivations to the
team".
Are you going to change the lineup?
"I will put some new players
in. Mlinar will remain in Udine though".

Toronto FC in the States, really?
Yes, give that Italian journalist an A+ for
geography. Never knew that Toronto FC was
in the States?
