Fabio Rossitto: “Our Youth System has made a huge jump forward lately”
The press conference “Young talents: how to discover and coach them” was organized by Agenzia del Turismo Friuli Venezia Giulia and took place yesterday evening at Arta Spa. Udinese Reserves coach Fabio Rossitto and Youth System Coordinator Angelo Trevisan spoke about the evolution of the Bianconero Academy. Angelo Trevisan: “The Club has recently given new impulse to the Youth System and step by step (“step-by-step”?) we are building something important. In Serie A there are only two Friulians players (“two players from Friuli”?): Donati e Padoin. Why only two? We should try and understand why. We don’t have to let our young talents go around Italy, we have to keep them in their territory, next to their families: that’s the right way for their talent to emerge”. Fabio Rossitto: “Witt (“With”?) the arrival of Andrea Carnevale as the manager of the Youth System and Angelo Trevisan as the Coordinator, we have made a huge jump forward. In Italy there are few Clubs like Udinese, whose structures (“system”?) are extremely up-to date. There are a lot of young talents, whose names will be soon very famous. Then, there will be many more Italians in next year’s Reserves”. Other guests of the lecture were Damiano Ferronetti, Giovanni Pasquale and Rafael Romo, who were literally questioned by the young supporters who were there.
Parma-born Fabrizio Larini (31-03-1953) debuted as a football player at the end of the 1960s, in (the) Inter Youth System. A powerful halfback, he played (with) Palermo, Spal, Cremonese, Parma and Reggiana. In 1985 he retired from professional football and settled in Parma where he worked for 15 years first as the Academy Director and then as the Sports Director. He’s the man who brought Amoroso, Appiah and Walem to Emilia and Fiore to Friuli. From 2003 to 2005 he was Atalanta’s Sports Director and in 2008 he did the same for Ancona.

Udinese Under16 triumph at the “Corpus Domini” tournament in Campobasso
Davide Marsura called up by the Under 16 national team
Luca Mattiussi’s Under 16 – although without ace Simone Cirillo, called up by the National Team for a training camp in Coverciano until June 8 – won (the) “Corpus Domini Memorial Antonio Rauso” international Tournament in Campobasso yesterday. The Bianconeri hammered Bari for 2-0, both goals being scored in the second half: Bertoia in the 25’ and Hoxa in the 29’ minute. The Friulians had already faced and defeated Lecce (1-0, Hoxa) and Acli Campobasso (3-0, brace ??? by Verderame and Montina). Midfielder Hoxa has been voted as the best player of the competition.Under 17 forward Davide Marsura received the call-up from the Under 16 national team coached by Antonio Rocca. The team (“is”?) are taking part in the ninth Bannikov Tournament, scheduled for June 15-16 in Kiev. Italy belongs to Group A, and is facing Serbia on Wednesday 16 June at 13,00; Belarus on Thursday 17 June at 13,00 and Ukraine on Saturday 19 June at 17,00. The final is scheduled for Sunday 20 June.

“The supporter I.D? An advantage and a unique opportunity for those who love football”.
Udine (“Udine’s?” Chief of Police Giuseppe Padulano about the supporter’s I.D: “No doubt: in this way, more civil (civil???) people to come to the Stadium”
The controversial supporter I.D is being adopted by Udinese, too: “Udinese My Passion”, that’s its name. A few days before the official launching, we have interviewed Udine (“Udine’s”?) Chief of Police Giuseppe Padulano, who has made a precise analysis of Italian football and its needs.
“It is quite a controversial matter but we are actually talking about an extremely useful tool for those who love football and like going to the stadium. A tool that will no doubt bring more and more civil (???) people to watch the matches”. Mr. Padulano’s statements are clear and strong: “The media must convey a positive message toward this issue: it is a unique opportunity to enhance the relationship between the Club and their supporters”. It is also an innovative tool: “Buying tickets will be easier, the season ticket holders will be able to watch any away match even though other supporters of the same team are banned for security reasons, then there will be special discounts and promotions exclusively for them in many shops and malls that have an arrangement with the Clubs”. The key concept according to Mr. Padulano is that: “We do not have to be afraid of subscribing it (??). All people having a season tickets will automatically subscribe the supporter I.D. If you refuse to, you can’t sit in the Settore Ospiti for away matches. However, you can all the same buy tickets for other sectors of the stadium, but the Settore Ospiti is only for the season ticket holders”. The message of Udine (“Udine’s”?) Chief of Police couldn’t be clearer: the only objective is to favor true football fans, to encourage them to come to the stadium and support their team. “True. I see no obstacles for this initiative at all. We are not at all putting the fans down in the police records. We are not filing anyone. The only aim is to favor civil supporters and their right to feel safe. Ministers Pisano and Amato had already issued similar decrees, but two things were missing: the supporter I.D and the possibility that stadiums were owned by football Clubs. And that’s exactly the next objective”. Before he left, Mr. Padulano virtually embraced and wished good luck both to Udinese and their fans: “I wish both and (“an”?) extraordinary and satisfying seasons, they both deserve it”.

Usually, foreign embassies throughout the world are located in a country’s capital.For example, Rome has the French, German, Canadian, American etc. embassies. In certain cities, there are consulates-general. Ditto for Paris, London, Washington, Buenos Aires etc.For example, Milan is home to several (such as the ones listed above).Embassies usually are NOT in cities which are NOT capitals.
But not so in Federico Rampini’s case, the journalist for Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper who June 27th while covering the G8 Summit in Canada spoke about the Black Bloc protesters and the way that they were holding under siege the city of Toronto, in particular “The U.S. Embassy” (p. 6).
Well, Rampini should know that while Toronto is the capital of Ontario, the capital of the nation is Ottawa, which is also located in Ontario.But it’s Ottawa that is home to the U.S. Emabssy, not Toronto (which by the way is instead home to the U.S. Consulate-General, as is also Montréal where I had worked in the late 1980s, not to mention the one in Winnipeg where I also worked in the 1980s)!

Today there has been the presentation of Udinese new Sports Director, Fabrizio Larini. Mr. Larini has been accompanied at the Stadio Friuli Press room by Udinese Calcio majority shareholder, Gianpaolo Pozzo, and by Udinese President, Franco Soldati: “I am really happy such an important Club like Udinese has contacted me. Udinese is a model for everyone in football. When I was in Parma (“at Parma”?), I had the chance to appreciate the philosophy behind their work and I understood how the Pozzo family guides the Club (“club”?) with unparalleled common sense”. Some rumors have been heard about Mastonunzio joining Udinese: “A very good player who came to maturity (“matured”?) a little later than usual. Many Serie A and B teams want him, but we have never mentioned his name here in Udine. Every decision must be taken together with the technical staff”. What are you going to do for the team? “I am managing the Sports (“sports”?) and technical area of the Club (“club”?). I am going to listen to the coach and to the owner in order to promptly get to our common objectives”. Lodi e Sammarco? “We haven’t talked to Empoli and Sampdoria yet. The coach and I will have to talk about it first”. What’s the main objective? “I am bringing all my experience. The results the Club (“club”?) has achieved in recent years are excellent and this is the right path to follow. Udinese’s history speaks for itself”. Majority shareholder Gianpaolo Pozzo wanted to underline about the transfer market rumors: “Too many rumors about dismembering the team. This season we have been confirmed (“we have been confirmed”? What does that mean?) how non-sensical it is to try to force players who actually want to leave. Udinese cannot run counter (“to”?) their own philosopy (“philosophy”?): ambition is a fair feeling and cannot be denied. Our Club (“club”?) is constantly improving and wants to become an (“a”?) model in (“on”?) the international scene through (“throughout”?) the years. We are really looking forward to finding high profile collaborators in order to create the best possible environment for our players. What happened last season won’t happen again, because we are determined to improve. I want to sat (“say”?) to our supporters not to worry because we do have plans for the future, although it is not time to where (??????) to uncover them yet”. Could Barreto join Udinese again? “The Brazilian belongs to our Club (“club”?). He did (“had”?) an excellent season in Bari, and now we patiently have to evaluate every opportunity that is around us. We are working to build up a solid and competitive team. We do not mean to ramble on: first, we have to get to the 40 points (“40-point”?) threshold and then nothing will be impossible any more”. How did you choose Mr. Larini? “He’s a man of great experience, he deeply knows the football world. At Parma he practically saw everything from young talents to the biggest names in football. We have decided to modify our organizational chart: we now have a General Directo (“Director”?), Franco Collavino; and A (“a”?) Sports Director, Mr. Larini”. About the Friuli Stadium issue: “Udinese is a fundamental re source (“resource”?) for our territory. We have wasted time and money reaching out (eliminate “out”) for impossible objectives. We are looking after the matter ourselves with the fundamental support of the Town Council”. Also President Franco Soldati (also) made some statements: “Few are the clubs that provide their players such structures and services (“There are few clubs that….”). Every year we invest a lot on the Club (“club”?): we have 109 first class players in our orbit (???). The job that has been carried out in recent years is just great”.
