Udinese to abandon synthetic pitch
Udinese “closes down” the external synthetic pitch of the Sports Centre “Dino Bruseschi”, 4 months after its opening. The decision has been made due to the total impracticability of the field in the event of the faintest (“lightest”?) rain, together with the high risk of injuries brought by this kind of structure on the footballers (“players”?), as they themselves have often highlighted.
Udinese, basing (“based”?) upon Figc's (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio) official standardization of the synthetic playing pitch of Novara Calcio and on the guarantees in terms of safety and performance of the so-called pitches of the latest generation, made the decision, last summer, to rapidly realize two structures, one in the open (“outdoors”?) , the other in the tensioned (??) structure of the Sports Centre “Dino Bruseschi”, in order to face the severe winter and guarantee the team the possibility to practice with all comforts also with harsh climate consitions (“conditions”?).
Four months later, however, facts are very different.
The synthetic pitch in the open (“the outdoor synthetic pitch”?) is totally impracticable in the event of rain or ice, which, in this Region, is evidently a constant presence during the wintery (???) months. Moreover, the pitch has provoked many complaints on the part of the players who, after training sessions on it, have shown several physical injuries, especially at the knees (“on the knees”?) and articulations.
Beyond the long-standing debate among Figc, Uefa and Fifa over the benefits or potential contraindications of synthetic pitches, Udinese's recent experience has proved how these so-called pitches of the last generation (a term which sounds more like an advertisement) were seriously risking to harm (??) the physical integrity of the footballers, as well as being, as previously said, totally impracticable in the open in the event of bad weather.
Thus, for all these reasons Udinese has decided to “close down” its synthetic pitch and to report it to the appropriate authorities, especially FIGC and LNP Serie A, and all the sister teams (“fellow teams”??), in order to share this experience, extremely negative, and to receive, if possible, adequate advices (“advice”?).
