Corradi: “Arbiters of our destiny”

Bernardo Corradi is ready to take up the gauntlet. Napoli-Udinese is going to be a crossroads match for hopes and ambitions of both teams, whether you’re talking about the shield (???) or Champions League.
Bernardo, is it just a feeling or are you actually the fittest striker in the forward unit at the moment? “It is the coach who decides the line-up and, so far, he’s always made the best choices. If Udinese is ranking fifth (“is ranked fifth”?) right now it is thanks to the players and the coach and their qualities. I feel fine, physically speaking (“physically-speaking”?), and a footballer's duty in such a delicate moment is to accept whatever decision. You have to give your contribution, even if you're playing only 5 or 10 minutes".

Is there any chance to see you playing at 'San Paolo' in case Sanchez is absent? “I don’t know his condition: he's doing physiotherapy and several treatments from morning to afternoon. We all hope he can recover completely before Sunday. He’s a fundamental element to us, but if we want to think big we have to trust more than eleven players, especially if we are thinking of facing three competitions per year”.
How strong is it the revenge spirit (“how strong is the revenge spirit”?) after the trick (cards?) in the 94th minute? “We don’t come from a bad period, we lost two matches and we got the approach in Lecce’s match wrong. But till (“until”?) then we were doing great, we had achieved a series of positive results with no precedents in the history of our team. No one is infallible, but the team recovered with Roma despite Sanchez’s absence. We could have won against them, but we made a naïve thing and we paid for it. That’s how football is, and you can’t allow anything (anything what?) to big teams. It’s a shame, we deserved at least a point”. At ‘San Paolo’ there’s going to be a boiling climate... "No doubt about it, but I think that despite being young, we're also skilled. A footballer just loves playing in front of 80.000 people. You don’t need any particular motivation during the week, it’s a match anyone would like to play. We’ll face a strong team, in shape, followed by a large, enormous number of supporters".

Did you get distracted by this week’s rumors? “Personally, I wasn’t affected by them. All we have to think about is do our part. We proved that we can give troubles (like in Northern Ireland?) to anyone when we prepare the match and we’re in good shape. We don’t have to think about the others, but concentrate on the match”. Is the defence the weak point of Napoli? “There might be a slight difference between the forward and defence units, but we're talking about a team ranking second (“ranked”?) at the moment. They’re vital, strong and they can squash the rivals. They’ve got strong players both in the front and in the back side".

Is it still possible to believe in the third place now? “I think everyone would be happy to be ranking fifth (“ranked”?) at this moment of the season after the first four defeats. Now we’re fighting for a place in the valuable Europe (??). We don’t have an easy schedule, but the direct matches give us the chance to be arbiters of our destiny. We’re playing against Napoli and Lazio: if we win both the teams we can reach an extraordinary goal”. Are you frightened by this Napoli? “All rivals have to be faced with respect, not feared (“they shouldn’t be feared”?). The coach will be able to prepare the match at his best".

In Sunday’s late kick-off are the two best coaches of Serie A going to face each other? “I believe that Udinese was the best-playing team for most part of the championship. Last year we lost Pepe and D’Agostino and we got some unknown players who turned out to be fundamental. In the whole, however, the team’s pretty much the same. I think that the work of the coach has influenced a lot (“has been a great influence”?). Napoli is doing a great job too and Mazzarri is the main reason".

Is Udinese game (“Udinese’s game”?) changed with the insertion (??) of heavy strikers? “The solution adopted during the championship was that of two small strikers using Sanchez's ability to create a weight of numbers (??). However, it is possible to change the kind of game if you change the interpreters. Both German and I have different charcteristics" (“characteristics”?).

Napoli, together with technical qualities, counts on running. How is Udinese? “If the match against Lecce left some doubts, I believe the one against Roma washed them all away. We’re in shape and we ended the match against Roma attacking”.

How heavy are the two consecutive defeats against Lecce and Roma? “I can do nothing but smile if I think of Udinese on a crisis after two negative results. The environment is helping us a lot. When we came back after Lecce (“after our game against Lecce”?) we found our supporters welcoming us at the airport. They are episodes to be underlined. We can play football in a peaceful way here”.
