Guidolin: “No result, though courage and personality”

Coach Guidolin is sorry at the end of the match lost “(which was lost against”?) against Edy Reja’s Lazio, but he’s also aware of being in the right direction (“going in the right direction”?): “We’ve played a great match – says Udinese’s coach in the “Olimpico”’s press room -. I want to congratulate my whole team for their performance. We didn’t deserve to lose, probably we didn’t deserve to draw either. In the first half we had three-four clear goal occasions, the one on Armero’s feet was sensational. In the second half there’s been a chance for 2-3 but we’ve missed it. This is soccer, but my Udinese has to keep showing this courage and personality. It’s all about taking a step further in concreteness (??) and lucidity (??) near the goal. There was no result, though I really liked the team”. Lazio, thanks to today’s success, is now three points away from Milan, the leading team: “We knew we would face a healthy team. We managed to give them some troubles (as in Northern Ireland?), though. We often do silly mistakes that we pay for, we have some difficulties in improving some details. If we had wasted less, we could have been up to 26, 28 points in the table by now. Sanchez? He’s a wonderful player, he’s been penalized by a hard kick suffered in the final part of the first half. I think he can still do better”.

ROME – Lazio-Udinese is a commercial for football. Goals, show, correctness: everything at the “Olimpico” Stadium in Rome, in today’s match valid (“which was valid”?) for day 17 of (“the”?) Serie A championship. Lazio immediately punishes Guidolin’s Udinese: Hernanes’ left-foot kick from the limit (??) of the area doesn’t give Handanovic any mercy. Udinese’s reaction is pure fury and in less than 10 minutes they create three good occasions with close passes giving Lazio’s defence some hard times. (?) Unfortunately Di Natale first, then Isla and Armero cannot score the drawing goal. Hernanes’ cross and Handanovic’s double miracle on Lichtsteiner and Hernanes settle accounts of the occasions. (??) The second half opens in a sparkling way: after 4 minutes Lazio’s defence forget about Sanchez leaving him in the area, letting him score with a header perfectly served by Di Natale. But Lazio retrieves soon: after a corner, Reja’s men use Dias’ elevation who hits towards Biava, making a perfect execution. Guidolin battens down the hatches sending in German Denis for Asamoah. “El Tanque” pays off the coach’s trust and after one minute manages to score in Muslera’s goal the 2-2 ball. But when the match seems to be coming to an end with a well-deserved draw, Zapata, trying to anticipate Kozak’s header, deviates the ball in his own goal giving Lazio their last 2010 points.

“The victory of the temperament” (??)

Francesco Guidolin: “The guys have wanted, taken and deserved this victory”

Coach Guidolin’s Udinese use their home match against Fiorentina to step out and go up to 23 points. Among the friendly walls (???) of “Friuli” Stadium another astonishing performance for Udinese’s supporters: “I want my players to understand how different this match was from the one against Parma – says the coach from Castelfranco Veneto during the press conference -. I was calmer today in the interval, despite the unfavourable result, than I was at (“the”?) “Tardini”. The guys has (“have”?) wanted, taken and deserved this victory. Now we have to play with this same intensity also in the away matches”. The Friulian team has recovered the disadvantage branded (??) Santana with Armero’s long-distance torpedo and Di Natale’s magic: “We feared Fiorentina, we really did. We had seen them do great things in the last two away matches of Milan and Turin. Today we showed we have a large heart (but small brain, at least when it comes to English…!), also on a difficult field. It couldn’t be better, it’s rained a lot lately in Udine. The team has perfectly reacted to the disadvantage, keeping calm and increasing the pace. We’re pleasant to look at, if we play with this temperament”. Next Sunday, in the midday advance (??), Udinese is to play at (“the”?) “Olimpico” in Rome to face the second in ranking (??), Edy Reja’s Lazio: “We don’t dream, we don’t make promises. After our bad start, it is a good result having 23 points. We seize the day and we try and hold on to this ranking”. For Pablo Armero it is the first goal in Serie A: “The Columbian player is gradually inserting. Our group is variegated (???) and multi-ethnic”. Di Natale’s change in the final? “The captain was out of fuel”. The last word is for German Denis, the author (novels?) of the assist of Totò’s winning goal: “His (“he’s”?) getting better and better day after day. He’s given tone and brightness to the match”.

Soldati: “We want our stadium to be a meeting point for the families”

This afternoon, at “Friuli” Stadium’s press room, Udinese Football Club’s President, Franco Soldati, together with Udine’s police commissioner Antonio Tozzi, has given two Udinese aces’ shirts – Di Natale and Sanchez – to the young supporter who was the victim of an attempted attack before the match Udinese-Napoli: “This gift wants to be an apology act (??) towards the boy and his family for the inconvenience occurred on the occasion of the match against Napoli – said Udinese’s President -. We want (“the”?) “Friuli” Stadium to be an happy (“a happy”?) place and a meeting point for the (without “the”) families. Our supporters have always behaved (behave what?), Sunday’s episode has been an isolated event and immediately stigmatized. I would like to remind you that no other moment of tension have (“has”?) occurred, neither before, during or after the match against Napoli. It means that our supporters are correct and mature. It is a little act with which Pozzo family and our whole Society (“club”?) want to show their closeness to this young supporter”.

Antonio Di Natale: “A great satisfaction to our supporters”

Udinese’s captain is radiant (ok, but it’s a word we don’t usually use in English) at the end of the match which saw the victory of the Friulian team over Napoli by 3-1: “Today at (“the”?) “Friuli” there has been a beautiful soccer game, with two teams that have done all they could to win. Napoli deserve this position in the table because it is a very strong group, but today we’ve been irrepressible and we gave a great satisfaction to our supporters”. With today’s hat trick Antonio Di Natale comes closer to his target of 100 goals in Serie A with Udinese. He is, in fact, at 92: “It’s all thanks to the team, that put me in the best conditions to express at my best (???). My most beautiful goal? Surely the second one, it reminds me (“of”?) the one I scored in Genova three years ago”. This is the second hat trick given to the Neapolitans in two years. Is Napoli the perfect victim? “I don’t think so, I have already scored three times against Lecce this year. I chose not to exult with all due respect to the supporters of the city I was born in. Today was a beautiful day of sport (“beautiful sports day”?) because there haven’t been any problems between the opposite supporters” (???).
