Low coast?

Ya gotta love the folks over at Udine’s Messaggero Veneto newspaper: they want at all costs to push down people’s throats the local language (called “friulano”), erroneously thinking that in some way it’ll help them learn other foreign languages.

In an October, 31st 2010 article, while talking about a new bicycle path which will be built in the centre of Udine, the journalist in question mentioned that the expenses would be “low coast”! Really? A bicycle path near the seaside (n.b. Udine is actually about 60 kms from the Adriatic sea, not exactly right on the coast itself) ? Or was he perhaps thinking of “low-cost”, such as in low-cost flights (EasyJet and Ryanair, for example)?
