Guidolin: “Double the strength”

Everyone was waiting for some happy news from coach Guidolin concerning the injured players, though unfortunately, during today's press conference, a bitter verdict was made:
“I had known it from the beginning of the week that Sanchez wouldn’t have recovered on time by tomorrow, but I was hoping that at least Totò would have got (“would have gotten over”?) over his critical situation. On the contrary, his foot didn’t get better and it got worse and worse day after day. I didn’t do any pre-tactical trick”.

At this stage, a change in the tactical disposition seems quite inevitable:
“We’ve been trying alternative solutions. We can't exploit deepness and burst of flames (???) but, whenever possible, we have to try different solutions. We’re working on it. I’m asking my team to plan the match and let their light shine (???). I hope to see them all toned and concentrated on the game. We’re fighting for the fourth place (“fighting for fourth place”?), so each match is very important, though not yet fundamental. We’ll have to do something more tomorrow as we’re facing Napoli, a first-rate rival, in a boiling environment. We'll have to double the strength”.

What changed in that fateful minute against Roma?
“Those sixty seconds literally petrified me. During the week the team's worked fine, in a peaceful climate. I want my boys to prove me (“to prove to me”?) they want to win. We’ve conceded several chances to our opponents in the last two matches as never before. We have to get rid of that period and remember that we're ranking fourth “(ranked fourth”?) because we didn’t concede anything to anyone. We don’t have to feel influenced by useful polemics or act as victims. We have to look at our mistakes and think about them. A coach has to work on those details on which he can put a strain on” (???).

Can tomorrow's late kick-off be crucial for this final part of the championship?
“There are still several matches to go. For each goal there are several teams in the running and nothing is crucial, yet. It is an important moment, as proved by those 80.000 people coming to see the match at 'San Paolo', and by our position".

How important is it the coach’s contribution (“How important is the coach’s contribution…”?) at this point of the season?
“The actual protagonists are the players, I only hope all the elements can re-start (??) working with the group as soon as possible. Our athletic and medical staff has been extraordinary so far. We’ve never had serious muscular problems before, and now we’re facing some quite unfortunate episodes. Di Natale got injured during a training session after mis-kicking a ball. I hope our professionalism will be recompensed. We are in shape and, all together, we can give a hard time to every team we face”.

The team has surely never missed its strong character.
“A team that after seven days is the last one and after thirty days is ranking fourth (“ranked fourth”?) proves to be strong. In Naples we’ll be missing a few weapons, but we’ll find some others” (where, in Libya?).

Has the decision on who takes the field been made?
“I was doubtful against Roma: I didn’t know whether I could count on Di Natale, Sanchez or Isla. Tomorrow, I know it for sure (“I’ll know it for sure”?): I made my decision yesterday and I’m not worried".

In the first leg, Udinese managed to realize a masterpiece.
“We’ll have to take the field with that same attitude. Napoli is a great team, they’ve got exceptional players. Their three forwards are formidable, but it's the team as a whole that works perfectly. Mazzarri did and is doing an extraordinary work. Being short won't be enough, we'll also need to be watchful and aggressive as we're facing the second most powerful team of Serie A. Being compact is fundamental, without it, we’ll be lost".

Pasquale: “Our determination will make a difference”

In Naples he proved he can co-exist with his unit-mate (??) Pablo Armero, in Florence, on the other hand, he will have to substitute him (usually in English, we begin the sentence with “On the one hand”…to then continue with “On the other hand…”). Giovanni Pasquale takes stock of the situation of the squad four days before the match at "Franchi" (“at the Franchi stadium”?).
“I’ve been working well so far and I've proved (“proven”?)I was good at it when I was called upon. I know that it could be my turn with Armero being disqualified. I will be ready on Sunday too”.

Udinese risk to arrive decimated (??) at the decisive appointment due to several disqualifications and injuries occurred to their players (“which have occurred to their players”?).
“We can face any team. We proved it in Naples and before then too".

Determination could make a difference in Florence, though.
“Of course. The most-determined team will win. They have nothing more to ask from this championship, whereas we are in the running for an important goal. The grit on each ball, wickedness (??) and small details will make a difference”.

Are the rivals - currently raking fourth (“ranked fourth”?)– going to face easier matches?
“Roma is three points down, but we keep an eye on it. We can’t focus on chasing who's before us. We’ve got a difficult schedule and a direct match against Lazio coming up (“which is coming up against Lazio”?). We have to arrive there in this placing, or hopefully better. In the last two matches we’ll face the almost-safe Chievo and Milan, which will have won the championship already" (“which will already have won the championship”?).

Lazio will play the next round on Monday night. Is it going to favour them?
“No, we only have to try and get our three points with Fiorentina, if they do the same with Juventus, good for them".

Over the week, the former Udinese player Felipe suggested you mark Cerci...
“The midfielder was the match winner in Sardinia, he scored two goals, but it is the whole squad to make a difference".

How come the faux pas with Parma? (“faux-pas”?)
“We prepared that match in the right way, taking care of the details, but unfortunately we weren't favoured by single episodes. We lacked the strength to react”.

Much water has passed under the bridge since one year ago, when both Udinese and Lazio were fighting against relegation.
“We’re both showing our real virtues. Lazio started before us to fight for an important goal”.

How heavy are the defeats against Parma and Roma?
“We really prepared those matches at our best and we paid for our negligence. We think positive though” (“we think though in a positive manner”?).

How important is it going to be Inler’s absence at “Franchi” (“How important is Isler’s absence…”?)?
“Gokhan is a great player. We’ll miss him, of course, but who’s going to replace him will rise to the occasion".

What are the strong points of Fiorentina?
“The squad. They have first-rate strikers and midfielders”.
